Our Beliefs
Our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
In our worship, we desire to surrender to and be fully devoted to one God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about what is important to God.
Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves. Our desire is to demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ.
We have been entrusted with a lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. Our witness is bold, compelling and fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God’s mission to make more disciples.
Our Vision is to join God in a journey of bringing new life, reconciliation, and the presence of Christ to all people, and to helping each person reflect the character of Christ.
Through our ministries, we desire to share the whole counsel of God with all peoples and to advance the presence and fulfillment of the Kingdom of God in every part of the world and at all levels of societies and cultures. The Global Methodist Church is committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures, and the work of the Holy Spirit in conveying God’s truth and grace to all people.
We are a global church that recognizes and deploys the gifts and contributions of each part of the church, working as partners in the gospel with equal voice and leadership. Our witness to the world is marked by mutual love, concern, sharing, and a focus on those who are most vulnerable. We watch over one another in love and bear witness to the transforming power of the Good News as we humbly, but boldly, strive to serve others as ambassadors of Christ!
Knowing what we believe and why is critical to developing deeply discipled Christians. The Leadership of the Heartland conference is excited to announce that the Global Methodist Church’s Transitional Leadership Council (TLC) adopted a catechism for the new denomination on Monday, August 1, 2022. The Catechism working group was led by Dr. Jason Vickers, Professor of Theology at Asbury Theological Seminary, and included a 10-member group of clergy, laypeople, and teachers from around the world.
To become a gospel-driven expression of Methodism that embodies servant leadership, equips laity, exhorts churches, and encourages clergy.
W.O.R.S.H.I.P.
Wesleyan Way – We will promote and teach Methodist doctrine and theology
Openness – We will be transparent with our processes and funding
Resource Churches – We will provide churches and clergy coaching, mentoring, and training, and help identify materials for discipleship in person and online.
Servant Leadership – We will follow the example of Christ that as leaders we are to serve, not be served.
Holiness – We will help clergy and churches strive for personal and social holiness so that scriptural holiness spreads across the Heartland AC.
Intentional Connection – We will promote and encourage relationship-building among clergy and churches for ministry, spiritual health, and vitality
Pursuit of One More – We will pursue the Great Commission. We will pursue one more person for Jesus, one more pastor to be recruited and developed, one more congregation to be helped, one more church to be planted.
Traditional Version
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic* and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

I believe in God the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son,
our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,

He descended into hell; the third day
He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sits at
the right hand of God the Father
almighty, from thence He shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting.
